All undergraduate students who enter under the 2020-21 catalog must complete at least one EL designated course prior to graduation.
Undergraduate Research – bet36365体育 students participate in undergraduate research in higher numbers than at many of our nation’s more elite institutions. It may involve gathering data or lab work, interviewing, coding, designing and more. Students in all disciplines can participate in areas that interest them and work alongside a top faculty member. Research will be presented on campus or even at national conferences. Students forge strong mentorships with professors that also result in solid references come job searching time.
Internships – Many programs at bet36365体育 list internships as a requirement, and departments have connections to employers or provide staff and resources to help students find internships. The College of Business & Technology has their own Career Center to connect students with internships. The Office of Academic Advising and Career Development also provides experienced counselors to help you plan your internship.
Client Work – Businesses and organizations within the community or area often need assistance with special projects. This could be collecting data, conducting market research, developing a video or advertising campaign, or working on many other types of projects.
Student Teaching – bet36365体育 has a strong reputation for preparing Nebraska’s top teachers. The Teacher Education Department allows students to get into classrooms as early as their freshman year and then student teach during their senior year. This allows students to develop their skill sets early, which makes them better prepared for their careers. Graduates are heavily recruited by future employers.
Creative Work – Part of many degrees require students to exhibit and showcase their creative work. This could be taking part in musical, dance or theatrical performances or displaying work in a senior show for fine arts, graphic arts, digital arts, or interior design, to name a few.
Community Service – Volunteering through a student club or community partner is another great way to explore your interests, expand your skill set and discover new possibilities.
Study Abroad – Studying abroad expands your worldview and allows you to learn about other cultures. Often, students come back with a clearer understanding of what they want to do in life. Students will develop and hone skills that stand out to employers, including intercultural communication, self-reliance, problem-solving and foreign language fluency.
